Driver's door wont open!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys - just went to drive round to my folks for Sunday dinner and opened my car off of the fob and couldn't get in the driver's door. Tried again thinking I'd locked it instead of unlocking it and still couldn't get in. Tried the key and the door pin moved up but only a little and the door was still locked. Got in - clambered over the handbrake and put down the window - tried to pull up the door pin to no avail. So I unscrewed it - and now it wont go back on. Can't see a bloody thing as it's so dark. I've heard of this happening before - anyone got any bright ideas about how I can get the sodding door open? I'm super frustrated,

Cheers much

mine has electric central locking.

one of the motors went rogue and stayed down.

disconnect the battery and cut off it's lifeforce!!! that should fix it (if it's that)

You're gonna have to take the door card off to screw the pin back in as chances are its fallen forward underneath the card - annoying design flaw!

Try opening both doors and boot and try locking, then unlocking the car again. Then try closing up the doors and locking... sometimes the system can kinda go a bit haywire and I hear that sometimes works to get it all back in sync again. No promises, but it won't cost you anything to try :)

you'll struggle getting that door card off if you cant open the door though, bro!

remove the trim around where the pin goes

then poke something in there, to centre it while you get the pin started. its a right pain to do, i know.

Well guys went out and it just opened fine off of the key fob! Weird! Door pin is still disconnected though. Will have to sort that. Cheers anyway.

Park it with the nose facing uphill and the metal pin should pop down into a place where you can screw the black plastic part back over the top of it!
