Pathetic lighting

Recommended Posts

The front lighting on my Corrado has always been crap, and this time of the year its always pitch black driving home so they seem even more apparent

anyway

i decided to have a look at the bulbs tonight and the wiring to see if there was anything obviousley wrong; in short only 1 of the 3 bulbs in each headlight is working

the main bulb seems to operate the side light (1 click), main beam (2 click) and high beam (pull back on left handle)

surely this isnt right, as there is 3 bulbs in each headlight

anyone able to shed some light on this???

regards,

Chris

Thats correct, you need a loom, its all about the volts getting to the lights, the path is inefficient and the wiring oxidises with age giving extra resistance...

Chris, the operation you describe is correct, 1st click brings on the sidelight bulb but also feeds a low voltage to the dip beam filament on both side of the car.

The second click sends full voltage to the dip beam filament. Pulling on the column switch will bring on the main beam filament on both sides of the car and also the spotlight in each headlight ( the inner light).

If the above is a true statement, your lights are working as advertised.

At this point I'll shut up rather than solicit business.

Renegade + Junbao

I bought a loom from Gavin (H100VW) - the guy in the post above this one.

I had it fitted yesterday by the local garage (I am useless at this sort of thing, and pretty lazy.... )

I fitted some 30% brighter bulbs from Halfords as well. (did that bit myself!)

The differnce is amazing. It's like a different car!

Oncoming traffic at night was making me completely blind, I couldn't see the road in front of me at all.

Most of my driving is on twisty, narrow, A and B roads in Cornwall, and you really need to know where the hedge is!!

Cornish hedges are in fact, granite walls.....

No street lights, white lines, or cats eyes.

Anyway, the new loom and bulbs are amazing.... GET SOME!!

My lights were so bad that the lights from the car behind were casting a shaddow of my car in front of me, because my own lights were so weak!

Now I have bright, white light and I can see.
