TomB 0 Posted November 22, 2004 I was chatting to a guy at the garage some while ago, and he mentioned these as being better for fuel economy without power loss. Has anyone used them and if so, is there any noticable difference? Cheers, Tom
h100vw 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Years ago max power got an extra 20 hp out of a 1900 205 GTI with some splitfire plugs  What they didn't show was the ones they took out that had a gap you could house a family of immigrants in. You could have fitted any new plug and got the same result. Put some std plugs in and spend the rest down the pub or something. Or buy another tank of petrol. Ady_G 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Years ago I went for the Splitfires in an old Cav 130 Sri, and it ran worse with them, when I had a service and tune up at the local injection specialist and he recomeded normal bosch or NGKs and the car ran smoother again. I think a lot of people went for the Splitfires but they were all hype, and twice the price. Cheers Ady
samm_cvr6 0 Posted November 22, 2004 I think it depends what sort of car you have, performance cars will be far more receptive to a good spark plug than small engine cars so it's pointless having a corrado with crap spark plugs, but in my experience bosch &NGK have been good, not sure about split fire but would be interested in t esting them. G60Jet 1 Posted November 22, 2004 do you lot not remember physics lessons The electricity will always follow the path of least resistance, thus only spark at one electrode at a time (the one with the smallest Gap, as each electrode wears the path changes. TomB 0 Posted November 22, 2004 G60Jet, I was rubbish at physics :) I took the path more often travelled...that of the layabout arts student! :)
Campaign 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Bosch on G60s, ALWAYS - never let me down, lasted 70k miles (seriously!) NGK only lasted about 20k Although, the Scirocco has the NGK triple electrode ones, as the standard ones just melted
