JohnJ 0 Posted June 3, 2003 Hi All, I have located someone prepared to manufacture a full length Corrado scuttle chamber cover in Carbon Fibre, in low volume. The plan is that the cover would fit snugly between the compartment seals and end just before the bonnet hinges. There would be a 'bump' to clear the wiper motor and some shallow channels to help rainwater runoff into the drain holes. I am happy to do the design, mould fabrication etc free of charge but the manufacture will still be around £90, plus p&p. (which is not bad when you consider the price of a plastic Reiger grille!) I don't think anyone would tool-up to make the part from plastic, polished alloy only water-stains, and I would not get the finish I want using fibreglass. Carbon Fibre may be expensive but it is durable and will give a nice understated look. I am not expecting folks to commit to purchase at this time but I would appreciate feedback from anyone genuinely interested. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

G60Jet 1 Posted June 9, 2003 G60, ×Ç|®8tËÐ, Left hand drive ones will be different guys, the wipers and the digi fuzz box are on the other side on RHD models!! so i guess the shape wil be different and the heater intake cut out on the other side!! Someone might wanna check to make sure the late and early models have the same scuttle dimensions im sure they do, but the late C has different bonnet hinges i think! JohnJ 0 Posted July 29, 2003 Hi Folks, Sorry I have not followed this up for a while... The plan is that the cover will be moulded around the wiper motor, rather than have a cut-out. Drain channels would be nice but might be a refinement too far... I would rather keep the design simple and do-able. The part is only cosmetic so will be done in the thinnest acceptable grade of CF to keep the cost down. I hope that the part will be well finished with no need for trimming. I have no plans for a special LHD version (as far as I am aware the scuttle are is pretty much unchanged between LHD & RHD?). I have got as far as to make a sheet metal version from which I can now make a mould, but since I am in Glasgow and the CF guy is south of Bristol, things may still take a while to organise. There does seem to be enough interest to justify tooling and I will try and get moving with this as quickly as I can, but, this is not 'my game' and I do have other commitments which take priority. I am not out to make a profit or con anyone so if the quality aint good or the cost is too high then I would rather just scrap the idea. Will keep you posted.
