Recommended Posts

Anyone had a problem with these? I think x2 of mine have given up the goat! Engine was only running on 2 cyl for all this time!!!! I've heard you can replace them with Ford version with a couple of mods which are more realible, anyone know anything on this?

Any help would be great... :(

Yeah, ive had problems with mine, quite a common fault apparentely, there are different sets available, worth asking vw or audi which set is the most reliable, then replace all of them, havent heard about using ford ones before

The new ones are fine, but pretty much EVERY coil pack that was fitted to a VAG car during 2000/2001 timeframe has been recalled and replaced. Maybe yours missed that recall?

They ALL die, and if you're unlucky and you get sold stock from the bad batch, yours will die again!

New ones from the dealer supply network should last much longer though.

At one point this problem was costing Audi UK around £100,000 a DAY just in hire cars for people waiting for replacement coil packs. It's crazy!!

never had any problems myself but the early ones are known to fail,vw never did a recall because it isnt a safety issue but were replacing them foc on cars that they failed on

True enough - no recall, but every car that went for service had them all replaced FOC if they'd not been done before.

My mate's Cupra R blew a coil pack at 18,000 miles.....and SEAT replaced just that one and not the others.....I'm surprised he didn't get the recall actually.

They're only about £15 from your local dealer. Ensure the coil has the number 06B905115Land not 06B905115J as they are the faulty ones.

I hope your right as I was told there near £40 inc VAT????

The late 4 pin Bremi coilpacks are shite, i had a lot of probs with them. I changed to a Bosch coil with 16v leads, no problems since and a better spark. Remember VW only uses the coilpacks because they are cheaper...
