I checked on a pic of your car ben and you can actually see the rallye fuel tank hanging below the bumper line, so its not an option for me.

Look like I may have to have 2 or possibly 3 tanks to make up a decent volume.....bugger

ah.

Right.

well I now have the floor in place and welded in, although I might have already told you that lol

I have the back axle in too.

all that remains is for me to sort out the rear brakes - I am fitting S2 rear calipers onto 256mm drilled discs, the exhaust (as in it currently doesnt have one), and get it painted.

Should be ready in about a fortnight ;-)

I will take some pics tomorrow night

So it's not going to be the same promises you made yourself last year!

Good to hear it's coming along further, need to get some work done before the freeze comes along!

Sooner than you think.

The freeze doesnt bother me Chris, I have a heated garage mmmmmmm

I am working on the brakes now, bit of a typo before I meant 256mm vented discs not drilled.

I am not fitting the ABS striaght off, although I have it I am going to save that for phase 2.

Speaking of phase 2 I am in 2 minds of what to do. I have 2 options really.

1) fit the charger and p1ss about with intercooling etc etc.

2) sell the charger and the 2.8 to make way for an R32...

I know the charged 2.8 will make far more power, but the R32 will be a plug an play thing, and will be good for a normally aspirated 250bhp.

I dunno....thing is I know when it goes on the track and ben comes sailing past me in his turbo, I will be wishing I had the forced induction!

R32 or Charged 2.8 descisions descions.....

Got any more details of the rear 256mm conversion Coxy? I need to do something similar on mine but not sure how it all fits onto the rear stub axle/hub.

Personally I'd go with the charged 2.8. I'm bored of N/A :-)

Or how about a charged R32? Is that an option?

No access to an R32 lump as of yet Ben, but then I am not really looking at the moment! If I wanted one I am sure I could locate one.

I reckon its going to cost me at least a grand to setup this charger. I have to buy/make brackets, buy an intercooler and pipe work, then I have to get the motor remapped.

and I reckon that I could raise enough funds through selling the charger and 2.8 block to fund an R32, which as I say it just bolt into place.

Then I could fit a proper supercharger kit for that at a later date, should the need arise ';-) and the kit will just bolt on and be setup in a matter of hours wont it kev lol

plus I will have the kudos of an R32 that people seem to toss off over all the time lol

re the rear brakes:

my rear axle is totally different to yours kev. I have hubs that are the same disc fitment as the fronts. You will be limited by what rear discs you can buy. Does the mk4 golf 2wd run vented discs?

If not you are screwed

Fair play, its idea. How much do R32 engines go for these days?

Yeah the Anniversay, late V5 and GT PD 150 do I think. As does the Octavia RS, Seat Toledo V5 etc. They all have a hub type arrangement, rather than slotting the disc over the stub axle. I'm not sure if the MK4 'hub' mates up to the Corrado Stub axle or not though. Guess I'll have to try one and find out.

Cheers
