replacing ISV

Recommended Posts

Recently i suffered from the notorious "pulling to junction" stalls. I've cleaned out the ISV and checked the pressure of the dashpot against the throttle (increased it by one turn). As this is such a common problem, can the ISV be replaced by something else or a different setup? What is the setup in the 20V engines and can this be applied to the VR?

That's something I've been thinking about as I get that aswell (intermittantly) despite replacing just about everything under the bonnet.

I paid over £100 for a new ISV and it made bugger all difference, so yeah, an alternative system would be cool!

You can actually drive the VR without an ISV but it idles a bit high and doesn't pull as cleanly.

OBD2 Golf VR6s don't have an ISV but it's tedious pulling the throttle and ECU etc off one of those for the sake of bypassing the valve.

Not sure what the 20Vs use.

There's got to be something we can do to stop this happening??
