Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2008 Quickly wafted over the intercooler/brackets and legal number plate brackets with some black plastikote. I didn't go mad near the fins on the i/c obviously... Neil. :)
just_say_meth 0 Posted February 12, 2008 You don't hang about neil  Don't mean to sound stupid but why can't you go too heavy with paint on the ic fins? is it a matter of stopping them cooling as efficiently? Hopefully give mine a lick of paint before it goes on :D
Riley 0 Posted February 12, 2008 Cheers mate :D It feels like its taking forever! And aye...Not spraying the fins was just to aire on the side of caution really...probably wouldn't have much effect in all honesty, especially just a light wafting over. Just got home to these... Pair of new SPAL 9" slimline fans. 8) One is going to suck from the engine bay side, and the other will blow from in front of the radiator. I tried remounting the original fan/cowling in different places to clear the new boost pipe in above pic but there was no way to sort it so these will do the trick. Neil. Monzadave 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Good work neil. Looks like its coming along nicely :). I'm guessing you've still got that running problem?? you must have replaced everything in the bay by now :S
potatonet 0 Posted February 14, 2008 ok I figured out the WOT switch thing I think... get a new oxygen sensor. or borrow someones or something because thats the problem

Monzadave 0 Posted February 14, 2008 I think Riley has already replaced that. What immobiliser/alarm have you got??
Riley 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Yep,already changed for a new genuine bosch one...Plus when its unplugged the problem is still there. The immobiliser is a toad one iirc... Got some new 90d silicone hoses today, but the knocker has sent the wrong leg lengths :(
potatonet 0 Posted February 14, 2008 well if the problem is still there while you have it unplugged then leave it plugged in? or get a wide band and have it send the signal from its analog port without a draw on it I had the problem for about a day, put in my wideband and poof it was gone. yes I had to tape my WOT switch shut
Riley 0 Posted February 23, 2008 It does it either way mate :( ------------------------------------- P|ssed off :( Been waiting for 4 90degree silicone elbows with 150mm leg length, they turned up as 100mm leg length and the pillock on ebay has been propper hard work, still waiting for them :( So i got bored of waiting and bought another head unit the exact same as i already have  I got it for a whole £28 quid delivered! I love these sony head units... The one already in there cost me £400 quid! which is in the glovebox as earlier in the thread. Ill hopefully update soon as to why i bought another... Neil. Riley 0 Posted March 1, 2008 Ive had to throw the stereo (above) which ive just bought straight in the bin after things went wrong :( Anyway, im on the lookout for another...here's what id done (stripped it basically) Neil.
was8v 0 Posted March 20, 2008 you want to locate the front panel away from the main unit? Seen this done before where space is a constraint.... here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marlin_bmw ... 830659040/ So did yours end up not working then? Ouch.... Riley 0 Posted March 20, 2008 Aye,it did actually work...There's a few vids on youtube but it was a bit tempremental :( Update:Well...Ive been busy becoming a dad for the second time. My new little boy is called Ayrton Neil Riley and all is 'ok' after some scary complications for his mother... :) Managed to get a bit more done on the Corrado. Used a chisel to get the messy plastic bits somewhere near. I cut it out more accurately on the front for what i want. Notice the wedge in this pic (behind red arrows) then see pic below I used a little filler over the fibreglass, got it all flatted off and then. Halfords finest plastic primer. The correct silicone hoses finally arrived...and i took a bit of time out from 'life' to throw them on last night. 4x 63mm 152mm leg lengths with a couple needing cutting down slightly. After a bit of positioning/cutting and properly mounting the intercooler, i turned the key and it fired up straight away. [] Crap, crap video. But this was a good moment for me as i haven't heard it run for ages! I got a better video today and worked out the wiring for the 2 slimline fans. They work real good too :D Neil. just_say_meth 0 Posted March 21, 2008 Congratulations Neil  Corrado seems to be coming along really nicely too :D Really loving what you've done with the bumper! Hope everything with the Mrs and the wee one is good :D
Riley 0 Posted March 21, 2008 Thanks mate :D Things are 'ok' at the moment but its been a horrible week or two :( Done more at the corrado tonight... The slimline fans mount up with tie wrap type things found on ebay etc...And ive just got back from mounting them :cuckoo: The one in the engine bay will suck, and the one inside the slam panel will blow :) Plenty room in the bay now. And the other side.
just_say_meth 0 Posted March 21, 2008 It's really coming along mate :salute: Those fans sure do give you a lot of clearance, I'm using the rallye rad & fan and it's going to be reasonably tight  Will it be ready for the VAG show? can't wait to get a look at this car in the metal. Andy
Riley 0 Posted March 21, 2008 Aye, plenty clearance! :D Can actually see the front engine mount! Shame it wasn't that visible when i replaced the fecker  Not sure if its gonna be ready for V.A.G 2008...Still got a lot more to do, and i ran out of money a few years ago now... Neil. Riley 0 Posted March 24, 2008 Thought id have a go at painting the bumper... And ive totally fecked it up :( Ran out of paint half way through, so my dad brought some upto the unit after nipping to halfords...Started with the fourth tin and it looked funny. Looked at the tin, fecking vw diamond metallic black :mad2: Went for some more and came back with 2 tins of vauxhall black :ignore: :censored: Gonna save some cash and find a good painter to do it i think...
Riley 0 Posted March 24, 2008 Here's what ive had to do with the bumper iron Which leaves this...Meaning all the top mounting clips are now obsolete ! So i drilled a hole at either side... One side seen here... Im trying to get this bit done today! A nut welded behind where i drilled. And some handy original holes in the bumper line up perfectly, you can see where ive bolted it up for a test fit So basically the bumper iron now bolts to the bumper rather than just using clips :D
Philuk 0 Posted March 24, 2008 in all honesty you have probably done a better job than i could ever do. wish i had the space to be able to spray stuff, i would try it but i dont think mother would agree with the back garden being blue lol
Riley 0 Posted March 24, 2008  Cheers mate! I never got chance to get the last two tins on there unfortunately :( They were the ones i would have got on nice and thick with a glass like finish... Ive split the bumper iron apart, had the two nuts welded on...And then sanded/hammerited it all.
Riley 0 Posted March 28, 2008 Wired up the slimline fans more permanently and integrated my custom side lit indicater wiring into the loom properly. Then recovered the full front looms in original v.a.g cloth tape, damn good stuff. After these pics i rerouted it all and tied it in place with the original straps... The whole car is filthy and covered in concrete dust :( Wasn't happy with the bullet connectors on the new fan wiring, so i spliced in a nice oem connector from a passat. Riley 0 Posted March 30, 2008 Bumpers painted! The bumper bolts/indicator screws etc have had a good soak in tesco's finest vinegar  The new number plate...sort of :? And fitted in the bumper... Also roughly masked up the charger ready for some black plastikote.
