Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2005 ok,my dad has a 1990 16v which is soon for sale,it has a mint black interior. my 92 g60 has the grey interior which i really cant stand to be honest  he said i can swap the lot if i want before he sells the car, should i go for it,dash/carpets/cards/seats/the lot!!! and will this change the value of the 16v? my grey interior is mint also... thanks, neil. :-P
bcstudent 0 Posted February 11, 2005 What colour are the two cars?
Guest Posted February 11, 2005 I'm under taken this exercise at the moment, sadly i dont have the option of a swap... so looking around for little bits is proving annoying! Will look good tho with black in the end!
Henny 0 Posted February 11, 2005 IMHO it'll knock a couple of hundred quid off the value of the valver if you take the leather out of it... As long as you bolt it all back in properly, there's no reason you shouldn't go for it... 8)
Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2005 sorry just to clear up guys  black 92 g60 has grey cloth, red 1990 valver has black cloth. there shouldnt be a problem with the swap should there fitment wise? thanks, neil. :D
Henny 0 Posted February 11, 2005 fitment should be identical unless someone's put a late interior into either car at any stage... :| Odds are that if they look the same (especially window switches and dashboard switches) then they'll swap over with only the normal amount of swearing needed... 8)
Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2005 (especially window switches and dashboard switches) then they'll swap over with only the normal amount of swearing needed... 8) yeah same switches etc... now the swearing bit you mention  i know how the front seats come out and thats about it,is the carpet held in with those STUPID! round push on clip things? sorry im used to the golfs! any other tips? in fact ill post here as and when i do the swap if i get stuck on anything 8) cheers again, neil. Henny 0 Posted February 11, 2005 never done it, so I can't help that much... :| I've only swapped seats and door cards before, I never took the dash or carpet out....
Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2005 cheers anyway henny 8) maybe ill sit a swear box on the drive and see how much money i can get towards some 9x16's
Banana Man 0 Posted February 11, 2005 Yeah the carpets are held in place with the stupid black clip thingy's the bases of the rear seats just pull out and the backs of the seats are held in place with the 4 m6 nuts behind the centre armrest. As for the dash dunno about that one as I ve never taken one out but shouldn't imagine it's that difficult to do!!
Blue_Joe 0 Posted February 11, 2005 I've swapped the lot recently. It is a complete strip down of the interior the dash is the hardest part, purely down to the time it takes if you've not done it before. I've had the dash out twice now and it gets quicker. With the dash you just have to remember that there are 2 bolt under the bonnet that if you don't know about are the biggest creator of swearing moments as you'll sit there pulling on the dash wondering why it won't come out until someone asks you if you have taken them off. The carpets you need to be really careful when removing them as they have the sound proofing is stuck to the carpet in the footwells and then in turn stuck to othe floor. You need to take it out carefully soas not to wreck the soundproofing. Putting it back in is not too hard you just need to make sure its all in lined up properly otherwise its a bugger. Finally go and buy yourself a load of the various types of fixing clips and bits that hold in the carpet as your bound to wreck a load gettting them out. You'll definatly need to buy the four clips that hold the carpet in place under teh rear bench as you have to break them to get them out! hope this helps
Riley 0 Posted February 11, 2005 thanks for that guys. :D Blue_Joe, where abouts are the bolts in the engine bay holding the dash? ive done plenty mk1/mk2 swaps before so have a general idea of the procedure... just need to wait for a dry day now! thanks again, neil. :D
Blue_Joe 0 Posted February 11, 2005 The bolts are located under the panel that the windscreen wipers are mounted on. Fairly near the wipers
