Bonding the window to the regulator

When I want my passenger window to go down the regulator drops down fine, the problem is the window stays where it is and then falls! :mad:

 

I believe the window is bonded to the regulator some how inorder for it to be pulled down - but how?? Is it glued in??

 

If so what sort of glue should I use - nothing seems to last very long so far.

 

Also the window clatters like mad when its down and the door is closed - can I fix this at the same time??

im guessing here using the info i know from golfs...

 

the window normally just sits in the regulater which has a rubber piece in it.

 

sounds like you may have lost the rubber,possibly causing the clanging noise etc...?

 

dont know if im on the right track though?

 

best off whipping the door card off to check it out.

The window glass sits in a metal channel into which it is glued. If the glass is not moving with the channel then it will need to be re-fixed using black PU auto adhesive, this is made by numerous companies ie Bondaflex and Sikkaflex to name but two, you will be able to obtain it from any good motor factor particularly those that specialise in car body repair. You will need to dig out any of the old adhesive first and make sure that you re-fit the channel onto the glass in the correct postion. If you require further assistance, i am happy to help.

having just done my window regulator (replaced it) the glass is bonded to a metal runner, the metal runner is then clipped to the regulator, the runner is also bolted to the window regulator guide to keep the window secure and true
