NickVR6 0 Posted February 17, 2005 I have a VAG alarm fitted to my 94 vr but insurers want to know the make and model. I have both sets of original keys one set having the little black plates with the alarm codes on etc. Its been suggested that it may be a scorpion 5000 series but my only local shop cannot help. Surely im not going to have to spend 500 quid on a new closure thatchum when mine is and works fine if i knew what it was. VW are NO HELP for a change. Can they not look it up somewhere? Surely they know whats fitted to their cars at the main dealers, why am i not suprised. Specialist servicing, its the way forward !
MikeVR6 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Show us your remote Big Lad and we'll work it out! Failing that, give Scorpion Alarms a call. Details here.. http://www.scorpionalarms.com
h100vw 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Have a hunt around under the dash or in the kick panel by the bonnet release and see if you can find the black box. Should have all the details on the outside. Gavin
NickVR6 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks guys. As for the remote its the same as my wifes 97 vento vr6 and the same as a friends 94 mk3 16v. Has 2 buttons at the top, one resessed the other sticks out very slightly. Its black and all the other i've seen have volkswagon writen in blue accross the top. Mine has 2 extra bits on the remote i hav'nt seen on others........it has a slider which allows the interior sensor to be deactivated to stop it going off all the time and what looks like a white pin port to plug something into it in the side. That help ?? (Black box under bonnet has vag 150 or 180 written on but cant read it all) hav;nt checked inside the car yet though so thanks for that tip. im in a passat gt today so will have to check that one tonight. h100vw 0 Posted February 17, 2005 That'll be the siren under the bonnet. It's the black box you need. Most likely by the bonnet release.
