Timo. 0 Posted April 1, 2005 How do you clean up an old piston?? I want it shining and good enough to use as a mirror!! I've got 1 in coca cola at the minute to see what that'll do. Any other good ideas? cheers T.

Timo. 0 Posted April 1, 2005 MMMMmmmmm....... I like the coke idea for the minute. Might give that a shot tomorrow. Think there's some metal polish around somewhere. T.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 1, 2005 I polised up a piston from a V12 Caterpillar earth mover engine (huge!) and some valves (equally huge) with some autosol and drill buffers a treat. They're an ornament in the house now, LOL! I use them to explain to my friends how engines work, LOL!
Timo. 0 Posted April 1, 2005 These pistons are for ornaments too!! They're 2 g60 pistons I bought off ebay for a £1. Nothing wrong with them. They came from a blown engine. The other 2 got melted. Bought them as part of my Dad's birthday. Bit of nostalgia!! Mind you, I expected to pay a bit more than a £1 so I've had to buy other stuff too! T. stevemac 0 Posted April 1, 2005 I scrubbed all of mine with a "green panscrubber" & washing-up liquid. Then I stuck them back in the engine............ As Kev says, for an ornamental finish - Solvol Autosol is the "daddy"
