Recommended Posts

chaps, please help!

i have a 2.0ltr 16v and driving to work the other day my battery warning light came on.

i tested my alternator and it was dead, so in goes another one.

however

the light is still on.

is that light just for the alternator or is it linked to anything else?

please help.

cheers

Have you put a meter one the battery while the car is running to see if the alternator is providing sufficient charge ?

my alternator wires were shagged, but usually this will mean the car will stutter or lose power altogether so maybe it is your battery. hopefully it is the wrires because that will cost you about 50p, lol.

cheers guys,

right, update, ive had the alternator reconditioned, a new battery put on and a new alternator belt.

so it must be the wiring.

so... does anyone on here have a charging wiring diagram for a 2.0ltr 16v?

if so can you please please post it so i can get this done.

are there any relays in this circuit?

samm_cvr6, mine has also stuttered and loosed power a few times too.

cheers all

dave

check for a little blue wire coming from the battery m8,it should run across the front of the engine bay to the alternater.

sounds like its come off/snapped to me.

also check the wire that runs from the battery to the starter motor. the nut came off mine and my battery light kept coming on and the battery was not charging properly
