Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 22, 2005 Shilakadaddy, did you mat under the rear seats too mate? I tripled layered it there because the exhaust is right underneath! I also put some sound absorbent pads on top and err, the seats only just went back in but it's worth it, LOL!
coolrado 0 Posted April 22, 2005 whats next................. double glazing once went for a ride in the back of frank williams's merc that had double glasing and it was spookily quiet
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 22, 2005 Double glazing is for plebs, I'm going for triple glazing with heat refelective coatings.
Shilakadaddy 0 Posted April 22, 2005 Yeah you can't really tell from the pics because that brown bread stuff is really shiney... but it is actually there too - only single layer though. To be honest its my engine that makes the most noise, rather than my exhaust, so I think when I take my dash out (again!) to sort the wiring, I'll maybe try adding some to the bulk head... although I didn't see much room for any to go last time :? coolrado 0 Posted April 22, 2005 would probably be easier to cover the engine side, its quite heat proof isnt it?
Shilakadaddy 0 Posted July 24, 2005 Thought I'd resurrect this thread as I've started the task of getting rid of all rattles! I currently have no interior what so ever (no dash, or even headlining)... so I'm wondering where the most benificial areas to apply the soundproofing stuff I have left is? So far I've done whats shown in the picture above (Boot, under rear seats and rear quarter panels) and both doors in a single layer... Where next? Edit: Picture from the previous page:
A20 LEE 0 Posted July 24, 2005 shame you can't do anything about the wind noise. Since i dynamatted mine all i hear on the move is wind noise around the passenger door .

Ice White Socks 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Actually I have just finished my doors today. have done the outer skin completely but a few parts of the inner skin- hopefully this will be enough deadening :?
Shilakadaddy 0 Posted August 11, 2005 I've got some dynamat left over from my old car, so hopefully that'll be enough to cover a door if one of my window motors brakes... just refitted my door cards today, and the door feels a lot heavier, and makes a much more definate 'cluck' when it closes... yet to tell about noise reduction tho
