How do i tell if this have worn to access? what will i experiance in my car if they have gone?

Look at the top of the struts under the bonnet. They should both have the same gaps (assuming you've left the wheels pointing straight ahead).

Also look for problems with clunking or excessive movement laterally in the top of the strut.

If you can get your little finger (or any of your bigger digits) between the rubber and the top plate of the top mount, they're goosed.

 

Worn ones manifest themselves as clonking over bumps and a loose feel to the steering. Turn-in will also be blunted.
