I have lost my horn :-(

Recommended Posts

But enough about my personal problems :)

Decided to give the old Corrado a good clean inside today- got a cloth snagged and have managed to break off the dash-side springy contact that pushes onto the horn ring (behind the back of the wheel) :(

Has anyone else ever managed to be this stupid? Does anyone know if the contact is replaceable? am I going to need to take it to a garage to get the wheel off or can I do it myself?

Cheers

Mike

Prise centre cover off.

Remove wheel - Think it's a 24 mil socket from memory and you'll need a bit of an extension to get at it.

take the centre cover off the steering wheel and you'll see a large nut in the middle, undo that and the wheel comes free, easy really! the nuts a big un though. as for the contact, you could bodge a fix with any old bit of metal to make contact i expect, a paperclip or something...as a temporary measure obviously

edit - :( beat me to it tom!

I fixed a wheel with a broken contact by sliding a double male spade connector (out of a box of halfords assorted connectors) behind the flat brass plate and soldered it for good measure, It's been fine for the past 3 years...
