cookie 1.8 16 valver 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Hi Guys I need to replace the fuel lines which run in the engine bay as they look too rusty for my liking, does anyone make these/supply these other than VAG ? Thanks Dave
Supercharged 2 Posted May 31, 2005 You can just se regular 8mm fuel hose from any motor factors but for the moulded (shaped) hoses I would stick with VAG.
Supercharged 2 Posted May 31, 2005 Sorry - just read that it's a 16V - if you mean the metal braided pipes then it's probably VAG only unless you know of someone local that can make them up to size...
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 31, 2005 The braided lines are stainless, so don't rust. They were later changed to metal and rubber hose to reduce costs, maybe he has these?
coolrado 0 Posted May 31, 2005 The braided lines are stainless, so don't rust. They were later changed to metal and rubber hose to reduce costs, maybe he has these? but the crimped steel ends do rust quite a lot.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 31, 2005 Nothing a bit of sanding and hammeriting can't sort..... Those lines are not cheap from VW.
cookie 1.8 16 valver 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Thanks guys, it is a 91 1.8 16 Valver and has just the standard metal pipes, as you say think it's going to be a sand and hammerite job to ensure they dont rust anymore. Hope everyone had a great bank holiday, fab weather to get stuff done for a change !
