craigowl 0 Posted June 10, 2005 (1) I take it this, allegedly sought after, plastic bit on the rear of the C is just glued on - not fixed with lugs like the "Corrado" ? (2) Anyone on here had their's stolen and was there any paintwork damage? (2) Also, does anyone know what the "storm" emblem cost before it became unavailable at, say, the VAG dealers and GPC? Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 10, 2005 1) Yep, double sided tape stuff. 2) Shouldn't be any damage as it comes off in seconds with a credit card. 3) Dunno....too much!
Supercharged 2 Posted June 10, 2005 (2) Also, does anyone know what the "storm" emblem cost before it became unavailable at, say, the VAG dealers and GPC? Less than a tenner IIRC
corradostorm 0 Posted June 10, 2005 £18.50 plus vat. Per VAG Chelmsford (if they had one!)
RW1 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Jamie you beat me to it. But to add and dispell any rumours! October 1996 - Storm Badge Kit was £18.60 +VAT (£21.86). Part Number V853 VAG 819 Made in France at the 3M factory at Villebon sur Yvette. And here is what the kit looked like. 500 on the Corrado Storms (chucked on the seats at the docks in UK for the dealers to play with) and about 300 spares (285 in 1996 were noted on the VAG system). ------------ Hair dryer blown onto the badge at the bumper will soften the adhesive to allow it to begently coaxed off. Halfords double sided trim tape is good but don't wash the car for a week to allow the adhesive to air harden a little.
VR6 0 Posted June 10, 2005 I presume I'm asking the obvious by saying, has anyone approached 3M to see if they can/will reproduce the badges?
RW1 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Not aware but I'm sure it will be copyrighted and protected by VW and VAG UK.
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted June 10, 2005 I asked Trimsport at a show once and they said something about £500 for them to make a mould
corradostorm 0 Posted June 10, 2005 I very much doubt it is copyrighted. Only a limtied edition and VAG don't seem to give a t*ss. Copyright only applies for a limited period does it not (i.e. the 'Wolfsburg Edition' badge in not covered anymore, hence why every man and his dog is making them). craigowl 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Thanks for your contributions, all. I have removed the badge with hair drier heat and credit card. Am trying to make mould. That is difficult enough but the black and red painting looks even more tricky. Might end up throwing it all in the bin and only stick badge back on when selling car.
