215 & 225 x 45 x 17"

Recommended Posts

Sorry to those of you have posted before on similar subjects but I need a definitive answer before I purchase.

Will a set of 215 (on front) 225 (on rear) x 45 x 17" fit on a VR6 with a 30mm drop.

They have come off a mk 4 golf and are 5 x 100 pcd with an offset of 35.

I have heard conflicting stories of 17" wheels rubbing etc and these ones do seem a little wider at the rear than a standard 205 width???

Thanks

Steve

Your suggested sizes are just too big.

I've tried the 45's and the 215's and just a chew on cos the arches will definately catch and probably scuff the inner arches.

Rubbing aside, consider this:-

Size - Sidewall - Radius - Diameter - Circumference - Revs/Mile - Difference

205/50-15 - 4.0in - 11.5in - 23.1in - 72.5in - 874 - 0.0%

215/45-17 - 3.8in - 12.3in - 24.6in - 77.3in - 819 - 6.7%

225/45-17 - 4.0in - 12.5in - 25.0in - 78.5in - 808 - 8.2%

45 profiles are going to rub big time if you lower, not mention making the speedo inaccurate and slowing the car down.

He didn't ask about 205/40 17 so I didn't include it :p

But just for you:-

Size - Sidewall - Radius - Diameter - Circumference - Revs/Mile - Difference

205/50-15 - 4.0in - 11.5in - 23.1in - 72.5in - 874 - 0.0%

205/40-17 - 3.2in - 11.7in - 23.5in - 73.7in - 860 - 1.7%
