Vr6/24v/R32 specs

Anyone have info on these?

i am looking for specs, ie bore stroke etc

also is the inlet manifold from an R32 the same as theat from a 24v?

R32 - 84 bore, 95.9 stroke - CR = 11.3:1

 

2.8 12 and 24V - 81 bore, 90.4 stroke - CR = 10:1 (I think)

 

VR6 2.9 - 82 bore, 90.4 stroke - CR = 10:1

 

 

It's all on Google mate

 

I believe the variable plenum is a similar design to that used on the 4 Motion yes, PhatVR6 and Coxy will know.

Thanks, i suppose lazyness is not an excuse, or just being really busy at work today :lol:

So i take it the R32 has a thicker block than the 24V then?

LOL.... I was curious so looked for myself too!

 

I guess the R32 block must be a new casting as it was always said 83mm was the max you could take the AAA/ABV lump out to.

 

And VW will have added 'scope' into R32 lump too, for the forthcoming R34 for example..... prolly a mill more bore and stroke I'd imagine. Wouldn't have thought they'd make the crank throw much longer, but it'd be a torquey beast !

Definatly would improve torque alright

is the 24v block the same as a vr6 block then or an R32?

I am thinking that it is more likely an R32 block underbored

24v came out well before the R32, so more likely the other way around.

Is the R32 still using an iron block?

24v is a different block to the 12v, heads are NOT interchangeable,

 

also, head bolts on an R32 are 1mm smaller, to allow for the bigger bore. so althought he crank MAY fit in the 2,8 block, you can't bore it as much so you can't get a 3.2.

 

also, the ports inthe r32 head are bigger than the 2,8 24v so the inlet manifold is different too.

 

the R32 also has a much bogger throttle body.

I have a 2.8 lump, and a r32 lump with a cracked block. I'll be stripping them both and seeing exactly what fits (I want to get the r32 crank, rods and head inthe 2.8 block, bored out to as big as it;ll go) over the next few weeks so I'll stick the details up in this thread with pics and measurements for a conclusive guide to 24v's
