Nick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 I picked it up yesterday morning and have posted a few pics on a non-vw forum. There seems to be some confusion as to whether my car is actually a 1.8 16v G60 as i believe it to be, as that was how it was advertised and sold to me. If you guys wouldnt mind taking a quick peek. Its in absolute mint condition, hardly a blemish or a stone chip. Also very very quick, especially compared to my last car, a 1.4 106! Neil VR6 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Looks tidy. G60's are 8v :) Do you know when the supercharger was last serviced? They should be serviced every 40,000 miles or so (less if you're running a smaller pulley). Those foam airfilters are known to let more particulate nasties in than their cotton counterparts. dinkus 10 Posted August 2, 2005 That's a very nice C - the wheels are in ace condition too 8) It looks like a standard G60 (1.8 8v) to me, but it's certainly no slouch. A word of warning though, the charger doesn't look like it's been rebuilt at any stage, so it's highly recommended that get it serviced or at least looked at by someone such as g-werks ;) Edit: heh heh, yeah what Neil said :D
Neil VR6 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Where are you based?
Nick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 It hasnt been rebuilt and i am fully aware that i will need to fork out some money soon to have it rebuilt, but i just gotta wait a bit and sort my finances it. The wheels are really good condition and so is the rest of the car, 103k. The foam cone thing came with the car, any suggestions as to what replace it with? Nick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Dorset, why do you ask?
Neil VR6 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Well first priority is the charger. I use a chap in West Sussex called John who is a Corrado specialist. His username on the forum is 16VG60. My car's down there at the moment for it's second charger rebuild at 116000 miles. Prices for a rebuild start at £350, more of you want porting done. Your charger is living on borrowed time! New ones are about £1000 to put it into context! I'd replace the filter with a standard airbox and a K&N panel filter. Pipped you to the post Dinkus!

Still a tasty little car tho - enjoy your new ride.
dinkus 10 Posted August 2, 2005 Yup, get a standard airbox and a K&N panel filter on there :) Rebuilds wise, JMR (John - 16VG60) do them, as do G-Werks (Darren g-man) and both are based on the south coast in sunny Sussex. I think the G-Werks rebuilds use slightly different seals and cost a wee bit more, but get in touch with both of them and see what they say :) Jabbasport also do charger rebuilds, but apparently they aint what they used to be and people have been having problems with the rebuilds and customer service. But this is just what I've heard on the grapevine.
Nick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Would a direct air feed or forced induction kit (eg BMC CDA) do the job? Any body have a standard airbox for sale!?
Neil VR6 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Space constraints pretty much rule out the BMC type filters. My charger was rebuilt at about 90K by Jabba but getting it done by JMR now at 116K will give me some peace of mind and make the car more saleable. He's also opening up the ports as Jabba are known to do a bit of a half arsed job on their "stage 4's".

Nick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 I consider myself lucky, dont u worry. If it doesnt fall apart then i have a pristine conditioned G60 for a touch over 2k! If it does fall apart then i have many quality parts to sell! lol, all should be good tho. :)
bristolbaron 10 Posted August 2, 2005 i just gotta wait a bit and sort my finances... dont wait. do it NOW!! I bought my g60 from a mate. it had done 96k when he bought it. the charger had never been serviced. he planned on getting it done within the month. it blew up the day after purchase! i was in the car at the time - and thought i was gonna see a grown man cry
Craig 0 Posted August 3, 2005 Hi mate....looks like a nice g60 you got there. where bouts in dorset are you? im in sunny old bournemouth.....looking to take my c down to 16vg60 aswell. needs a charger rebuild asap so im fingers crossed till then! with that filter id replacd it with an air box (try scrap yards etc) as its gets like an oven under the hood so all your doing is feeding the engine hot air! Supercharged 2 Posted August 3, 2005 dont wait. do it NOW!! Yep, just to stress what bristolbaron said, get the charger done asap, get a 0% CC etc... if it is really original at 103k it's well overdue a rebuild!
