You just gonna slap a new engine in it then? gives you a nice spare on to play with i suppose when you get time!

Its in mate... deliverd at 3.30 and in by 5.00 just need to pick up a new water pump in the morning and we should be back to square 1... at least i know the history of the engine now

Hmm, those passats rwd then?

Nope, the engines are just mounted inline as opposed to transversely...

I believe the technical term is 'longitudinally mounted'. What a strange word!

Saves lapping in 20new valves I guess! Cheating though really!

it was more of a cost issue to be honest mate as i sourced a 78k engine for £350 so with all new gaskets/belts/tensioner and water pump was still less than rebuilding the original head...

anyway She lives !!!!!

I got pulled over the very first day I took the plate off the front of the Golf!!! Although I did drive round for a couple of weeks in the polo with the plate in the window when I first painted the bumper..

Still, I dont like having any excuses like that for the police to pull me...

believe that happened Darren, I only saw it last week in your garage. Lucky you have the knowledge and skill to sort it.

Take it you got the boot back from the painters then?
