Too low for tracking

Ive put new front top mounts on my car and the tracking was already out but seems to be worse now the wheels from the front look like this \ / :lol:

 

So I took the car to my local Charlie Browns/Motorsave and they told me that my car is to low to do the tracking :( They say that the new machine that everyone uses now wont fit over my wheels because of the arches and that maybe a specialist would be able to do it with the front bumper off :roll: :roll: Ive got some 14" steels on at the min cos my alloys are off to be refurbed but because of the profile on the alloys tyres they are the exact same diameter inc tyres. I tried to get him to explain in detail why it wouldn’t work but he wasn’t interested.

 

Anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do about it :D Also anyone living in West Yorkshire/Huddersfield area know of someone that will be able to do the tracking for me 8)

if u take it to a sporty place they have guages that sit on the rim and not over the tyre most of them also use Pits rather than ramps,,,,try Elite if there is one of their garages in your area

Dubsport did mine, hasn't been done for three years. Needs doing again as its pulling slightly to the left when you boot it and the car is 40mm lower than it was on the RH Cuprader Evo's.

don't know, all the hubs, drive shafts, wishbones, trackrods are being replace and the car won't have an engine in it for a few months so i'll have to get back to you :lol:

this place is way to far for yah, but Xtreme in harlow have the gauges that sit on the rim, so if the tyres under the archs they'll still be able to track it.. I use a place in bedfordshire called STS.. bloody good & facking expensive!!

mm too low! i had mine mot'd today and when it was on the brake tester the spoiler was 2mm off the garage floor made me smile!

LOL I just take the spilter of.. on the runners it sits on the bumper.. the bumpers facked on my car anyway so not bothered at the mo lol

I took mine for it's MOT the other day only to be told that it was too low to get on their ramps :lol:

almost had this problem too, but luckily i suggested we just give the the car a little lift and they went straight on :D i had to lift it up tho which was a bit of a task...

A20 LEE. what do you do when it comes to mot time. cos you've had the side repeaters removed.? only i had mine plated when i was in the body shop. and was then told it's illegal.?

g60bv, So far as I'm aware - side repeaters are a legal requirement in the UK.

JBOB, Your car needs "Laser aligning". This uses equipment which attaches to the wheel centres & can be used on almost any vehicle.

 

Places that will have this type of equipment are - larger body repair centres & some specialist wheel/tyre fitters. There are several body repair centres in Leeds that will have the correct equipment.

 

Last had mine done at a VW specialist here in Birmingham, which happened to have this rather expensive laser equipment.

JBOB try Alpha the powerflow dealer in leeds they use the laser set and track all the the low riders their number should be in the back of th autotrader mate.
