That is dynamat Hoodliner ;-)

 

It's supplied as a sheet (rolled up) and you cut it to shape using the old foam as templates.

I removed some of this foam from my valver recently and Im pretty sure I noticed more engine noise in the cabin.

 

Is this dynamat stuff effective at reducing the noise? Or is it for insulation/eat distribution?

I thought as much, its pretty useless if its falling off into your engine bay tho.
