COR VR 0 Posted November 8, 2005 Hey guys, Looking to upgrade my security in the not to distant, just wanted peoples recommendations on alarms for my beloved rado. Obviously I'll be wanting total closure and CAT 1 status. I had a Toad Ai606 in my golf which I didn't have any complains about. Are there any new systems out there I need to know about? Cheers. Niges16V 0 Posted November 8, 2005 The Autowatch 160 (CAT 1) is very popular as it is 'British', simple, reliable and sells at £300 fitted. Alot of installers prefer this system as they have very few problems with it. I had one installed a couple of months back and found it better than the Clifford Concept 300 I had before. If you just want a good alarm/imob system then this is ideal, if you want to add gimmicks such as starting the engine remotely then go for the more expensive ones. COR VR 0 Posted November 9, 2005 Cheers for the prompt replys guys, I would've stuck to the Toad but I didn't know if there were any new systems with all the bells and whistles for similar money. Heard mixed comments about Cliffords so I'm a bit unsure. Chris does your Ai606 link up with the total closure facility?
chrishill 0 Posted November 9, 2005 sure does, it closes the windows and sunroof when I arm the alarm, but I can also close them independantly with one of the spare buttons on the remote. Its got a fair few features which I dont use, like the anti-hijack function which locks the doors when the ignition's on, bit of a pain in real-world use though. COR VR 0 Posted November 9, 2005 I know that feature started doing my head in on the golf. Think I may go with the Toad... stick to what you know an' all that.
Neil VR6 0 Posted November 9, 2005 I think the quality of an alarm is more down to the expertise of the fitter than the actual box of tricks.
COR VR 0 Posted November 9, 2005 Thats more the worry for me... finding a decent fitter. Anyone know a decent place in the essex area?
