Stan 24v 0 Posted November 22, 2005 I currently have the pull handle from my drivers door on my kitchen worktop in bits. Firstly, two little springs fell out, and I dont know where they go back in :? Secondly, how the feck do I take the pcb out to change the LEDs, and how does it go back in? Has anyone changed these LEDs before?

white_vw_corrado 0 Posted November 23, 2005 pcb???what???
fla 9 Posted November 23, 2005 Its a bit fiddly - i assume the two springs you are referring to are about 8mm long and about 3 mm dia. If you've got the switch open, you'll see the white nylon sliders (for each of the L & R buttons and the top one for moving the mirrors. If the springs have got silver caps on teh ends then they sit in the central holes in the two nylon pieces - the silver caps basically fit into a recess on the pcb to control position of the sliders. If they are just springs, then you will see two plastic prongs just by the top right of the pcb - these sit on these plastic prongs. Now to remove the pcb you need to be a bit careful - there is a small bit of melted plastic which holds the board in place - its also towards the top right of the pcb, near to the plastic prongs. Either melt it slightly with a soldering iron and then scrape it off quickly. Then ease out the pcb gently. You can also "chip" it off with a screwdriver, but be careful you dont damage the other side of the pcb as this carriers power to the leds and this part is VERY narrow. If it breaks, you'll have to solder a piece of wire (use a cut-off from an led leg) onto it. Not difficult just fiddly - take your time and it'll work out nicely. And make sure to get the replacement led orientation correct. When you replace the pcb use a blob of glue from a glue gun or something similar where you melted the plastic.
