OBDII?

Recommended Posts

hi, i have heard about this obd1 to OBDII setup change, and wondered, just how does it work, what kind of differance does it make? Is it easy to fit and what parts etc do i need? Also, the deciding factor, is it cheap enough to do? I've heard it can be doen reasonably cheap, is this true, cheers

According to that thread, you can get the hardware for about £250 maybe, but then you have to budget on 2-3 days skilled labour to fit it ..

Benefits? Better running, some more power, better fuel economy, better engine diagnostics..

More info on the Supercharged VR6 Thread, page 34 onwards.

Basically OBD2 is just a different way of managing your engine, diagnostics etc. If there is nothing wrong with what you've got it's not worth changing TBH. As the doc said, parts are fairly cheap (second hand) but you will be forking out a fair deal in labour costs for someone to do it.
