woody 0 Posted August 20, 2003 Question :- Is my suspension f**ked  . had four people in the car and suspension at rear was making strange scraping noises. As far as i know its the stock setup. When i press down on one of the rear wings what kind of response should the car give if suspension ok. Thanks
Rpmayne 0 Posted August 20, 2003 I find cars with firm suspension hard to check with the old push test, 1.5 rebound stuff. I had a golf which seemed ok by that but one of the rear shocks had blown. I confirmed this by driving it around and seeing whether the roll was even on left and right hand corners, and went over a few speed bumps to see whether the rebound seemed even. The most noticeable thing was wild oversteer if I was anywhere near late on the brakes going into a corner.
cookem 0 Posted August 20, 2003 I had exactly the same problem with the scraping noise on my C with people in the back. It annoyed me for years, but couldn't find the cause. Then I had to change the exhaust and I haven't had it since. I think it is the exhaust rubbing on the underside of the car. Hope this helps.

andycowuk 0 Posted August 20, 2003 What do you expect to happen when you put a large wait ontop a spring? If it only happens when car is full I dont think there is anything to worry about. My Golf does it with people in the back, it has Leda fully adjustables and 250Lb springs! Nothing wrong with them!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 20, 2003 Could be the exhaust clouting the rear axle, especially if it's an aftermarket one. Kev
