Suspension

Recommended Posts

Question :- Is my suspension f**ked  . had four people in the car and suspension at rear was making strange scraping noises. As far as i know its the stock setup. When i press down on one of the rear wings what kind of response should the car give if suspension ok.

Thanks

I find cars with firm suspension hard to check with the old push test, 1.5 rebound stuff. I had a golf which seemed ok by that but one of the rear shocks had blown. I confirmed this by driving it around and seeing whether the roll was even on left and right hand corners, and went over a few speed bumps to see whether the rebound seemed even. The most noticeable thing was wild oversteer if I was anywhere near late on the brakes going into a corner.

I had exactly the same problem with the scraping noise on my C with people in the back. It annoyed me for years, but couldn't find the cause. Then I had to change the exhaust and I haven't had it since. I think it is the exhaust rubbing on the underside of the car.

Hope this helps.

What do you expect to happen when you put a large wait ontop a spring?

If it only happens when car is full I dont think there is anything to worry about.

My Golf does it with people in the back, it has Leda fully adjustables and 250Lb springs!

Nothing wrong with them!
