My horn doesn't work

Recommended Posts

What is says really, i've checked all the fuses, connections and earths but still nothing. My biggest clue is that when you press the horn you get a clicking noise from behind the fuse box, almost like a relay. Also the radiator fan doesn't seem to work any more and as there on the same fuse do you think it's connected??

Can anyone please help??

have you got dual horns ?

get someone to press it (ignition on) and check there for the voltage, if theres nothing

then do the same and check at the fuse

Consider yourself lucky.... mines always on unless I disconnect the horns

Gonna take off the stearing wheel this weekend and look at the connections.

I've got a healthy 12 volts at each terminal, so i tried taking the horns apart but they're pretty much sealed units, so i got a nice set from halfrauds for about 10 quid, that'll do

look under the battery to see if any wires have worn through. is the fuse good as the horn relay is before the fuse in the circuit.

Just tried the new horns and...........nothing, this is doing my head in, what's going on???!!! All the fuses and relays are fine and i have 12 volts all the way to the connections for the horn it's self. All i can think of is that the horns i brought aren't designed to relplace a factory twin horn setup like a corrado, cos they come with a relay and stuff.

Hmmm....

Depends what you got, Halfords do a pack of 2 red horns which work well as a direct replacement altho they plugs are different so you have to re-terminate.

Yeh i got the twin pack one maded by a company called 'ring'. They just have two spade connectors on each horn that i just plugged in to the existing connectors. I treid swapping all the connections as well, but still no luck, i'll have another bash tomorrow though

Sorted the bugger. The horn "loom" (if you can call it that - it's only about four wires!) had a dodgy bit of wire on it that had worn through and was occasionally earthing onto the body of the car.
