Sun Visor very stiff

Hopefully someone has seen this before,

 

The passenger sun visor has got soo stuff, I think one day someone will move it and it will break off. It does't come apart but there is a tiny grove along where the rod goes into the visor that I might be able to get WD40 into, but not sure this will help.

 

The visor is cream so not sure how many others are about, or if attempting to lube it will stain.

 

Anyone had this with theirs?? or any ideas?

I have the same problem as you pal. I can move it but I have to use every ounce of strength in my fingers to pry it down. Hopefully someone will have a solution for us. I do have more pressing issues then this though....

I applied WD40 on my stiff one.........oo er..........it did help.

Decided to go ahead with the WD40:

 

Took off visor, to get a good angle on it

 

Wrapped it in a cloth to protect the cream colour from staining,

 

Very gently (with the straw) sprayed WD40 down the small groove where the rod enters the visor. A small amount at a time cleaning any excess with tissue.

 

After each squirt twist the rod until it moves freely. (this took quite alot of spray).

 

Seems sorted now, but not sure if it will have weakened anything inside - will let you know.

 

 

Now to find another small and insignificant job to do to distract from the bigger and more expensive ones!

I had the same problem on mine, sort it out quick before it cracks! (mine did) :(

 

But ironically its now nice and light to use :lol:

Halfords or any motor factors - either called Silicon spray or Belt Dressing...
