whats rattling in my doors?? (have searched AND searched!)

Recommended Posts

Hi.

My doors rattle like a 1970s diesel-engined peugeot and i'm wondering what it might be before i attempt to remove the door cards and have a looksey.

Its definately inside the doors and i have a feeling its since the shop took the door cards off to fit new speakers.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Will

the metal rod that operates the door catch rattled against the door on mt vr6. I small bit of foam is supposed to stop it, but it wasnt really doing its job! I found bending the rod in the middle a little stopped it.

have just remembered it seems to stop if i push down hard on the back top edge of the door card (around the lock button area)

it ends up around the button area, although I'm not sure if they're directly connected, the one I'm talking about goes from the internal door pull to the catch, however there is another very simular rod under the button, so it could be worth checking that out too, espcially considering what you said above...

cheers dude.

will have a look.

it does kind of sound like metal on metal but quite a dull sound - a bit like a bar knocking on something.

ok wish me luck. door card virgin and its time to have a go!! :)

Sounds like your window is rattling off the runner or whatever part it is it rattles off. Mine is doing the same but I can't be arsed sorting it as I'm sure Kev has said it's a pig to do! Scraped knuckles at dawn and lots of swearing!

don't think its the window mate.

as i said, it stops if i push down on the top of the door card, so it sounds like its something around the lock button.

who knows though - could be anything :)

mines rattles like mad but its the rod that the lock pins screw onto. it does this due to the door card not being secured to the door properly some of the retaining clips have broken off. could try that mate

nice one mate. that sounds exactly like it could be the same thing.

the door cards are definately not secured properly on top near the pins.

does yours stop if you push the card down securely??

Does the window rattle when you close the door with the window down?

Mine does! Is this normal then? Sounds horrible when you close the door with the window down!
