Installing a supercharger on my vr6 rado

Lets start off by saying I have NO expierence installing a supercharger. I have a vr6 engine /w about 40k miles on it in a car /w 135k miles. What I want to know is can I install it myself? What components am I neededing to buy? Are there cheap kits out there? Could I do the entire process for under $2000 american? Is it worth it? what are the downsides? about how long would it take for a unexpierence novice? I have been looking at VF engineering because it is so tempting but the price is horrific!!! Also I have no experience of insurance in the States but I would imagine it's going to be a lot for a FI VR6 when you're 17...
