I think the cables are the same because there's only one part number for them listed in ETKA and if you look at the back of the (notorious) dial controls - they actually convert the circular movement into slidey movement.

No idea about the wiring tho

Ah yeah, sorry should have clarified - I think they're all the same between late and early spec, but definitely 3 different lengths.

And indeed, on closer inspection of ETKA, there are different part numbers for early and late cars.

I just ordered a new set of cables today, but they're on back-order so won't get them by the weekend. Which is a bit of a pain to say the least.

As a jump in point...

My first job on the 60 was replacing the heater box. I got one from a yard out of a Mk2 golf. I did'nt take the cables from said Golf. Are these cables any different to the Corrado early setup (slider controls). I ask as all seems to work well except when switching between hot n cold my slider does not go all the way over to cold. The flap works fine and the temp works fine. The control seems to stop short.

Any thoughts?

Could I have swapped the cables over at the box end. The defroster windscreen is fine. Then the other two are blue n black. Anyone no which cable should go to which part??

Cheers

2_Door_fun, if you have the windscreen (top black) cable right, the other two are temp control and vent control - you should be able to tell really easily if you have the cables swapped...

If they are right but not travelling correctly, you can usually adjust them by undoing the clip which clamps the cable sheath (at either end) and moving the sheath backwards / forwards. I had to do this with one of mine to get the travel right using late cables and late controls on an early box. I adjusted them at the control end and action is spot on now. Factory as fcuk...

Re-reading, I realise you are questioning whether you have the cables swapped totally - i.e. the temp cable running the flaps and visa-versa. If you have it shouldn't matter - the movement at one end is translated into the same movement at the other end - it does not matter how long the cable is in the middle. I still think you should be able to adjust your 'stops' by moving the outer sheath in the clips. Watch the mechanism at the back of the controls whilst moving the offending slider - you should be able to see which one and in which direction.

Hope that helps,

Chris.

The Corrado cables are 535 and 536 part numbers which means they're Corrado (535) and RHD Corrado (536) specific.

That doesn't mean you can't make mk2 ones fit if you want tho...
