jenks 0 Posted March 29, 2006 Me and James_88 off forum got back yesterday! More pics n info later on! That circuit is amazing and scary!! Goin back later on in the summer! :D 8) But we gota show use this¬ We did a few laps in the morning, left to do the museum/tour got back to find a local boy had written off a Scooby! No insurance! ouch! Then when we left we saw the recovery lorry goin out again, we waited but it took too long, and we were in our kilts so gota bit cold! we found out back in the hotel that it was the british guy who was also staying at our hotel and we saw a few times! He wrote off his 2 year old £45K BMW M3 coupe! No insurance again! a big ouch! There also another british lot at our hotel who had a 2.1 pinto mk2 escort, striped! looked cool until they hit a barrier! Not written off though, BUT my mate James brought his G60 raddo home thanks to his co driver craig and I managed to bring the Vr6 back 700 miles after being off the road for 4 months thanks to the company of my m8 Kris! TOP ROAD TRIP! Specially sun/mon in amsterdam! 8)

trev-b 0 Posted March 29, 2006 Jammy cnut! The VR is looking sweet as too mate, well done getting it together in time.
corradophil 3 Posted March 29, 2006 Its a must do for anyone who loves driving quickly in demanding conditions. The only damaged my mates car suffered when we went was a broken front spoiler from a big pot hole in one of the viewing areas.
logicaltuning 0 Posted March 29, 2006 im going back in may and then again in August volvo - may corrado - august
Cnut 0 Posted March 29, 2006 How does the VR6 fare against some of the other cars? Im also a bit worried about taking a 10+ year old car that might end up over heating or something :?

corradophil 3 Posted March 29, 2006 How does the VR6 fare against some of the other cars? Im also a bit worried about taking a 10+ year old car that might end up over heating or something As long as the it's on good condition with no problems, you should not need to worry. My laps were all done in a Vento 1.8CL lowered on 17s - It was great. Unless you know the track well you won't have time to think, "Hmmm I don't want that car beating me". Oh yeah, you will be going pretty quick too, so overheating should not be an issue, appart from the brakes!
logicaltuning 0 Posted March 29, 2006 brakes NEED uprating more than anything mine had gone by flugplatz in my rover and they caught fire in the 6 month old a-class merc !!!!
rmn 0 Posted March 29, 2006 yeah brakes are a big thing, i killed the brakes in my 320d last year, in fact the 4 rentals had no brakes after the weekend. nice set of pagid orange pads are suppoed to be the job With the likes of the dorient you have a nice car park to do some work on the car, thats where we stayed last year and this year is booked too Tyres are important but its not too hard ont hem, just make sure they are good ones that wont give up
_Monkey 0 Posted March 29, 2006 We're going the same time as Olly and the SWDubs lot, can't wait to go again!! Know what you mean about the brakes though, the other year we went and my mate in a new M3 was lighting cigerettes off of his brake discs! corradophil 3 Posted March 29, 2006 On my second lap the brakes pretty much dissapeared due to heat, I had to take it easy for a minute or so, then they were back, so I picked up the pace again.
james_88 0 Posted March 29, 2006 The thing that really struck me the most was the gradient of the track, you really can't see how much up/down there is in pictures or film of the track! Definately agree about the brakes, you really need a good set! And you're not worried at all about other cars beating you, all the matters (to a novice like me anyway) is completing the lap safely! Can't wait to go back later on in the year!
Jim 2 Posted March 29, 2006 I'm dying to go to the Nurburgring.. I will go one day! :)
Trig 0 Posted March 29, 2006 I'd like to go as well but i'd rather drive someone elses car! Writing off my C in the middle of Germany would not be nice at all!
Jim 2 Posted March 29, 2006 Yeah well then I think the trick is to not drive beyond your limits.. then you won't stack it! I know i'm ok giving it some welly in a straight line and know some basic cornering.. so I won't be trying to take the corners like a pro if and when I finally go! I think the overriding 'I need this car to get me home' thoughts should stop you from doing anything too silly! :)
logicaltuning 0 Posted March 29, 2006 if your dying to go jim, then book a ferry -£60 return, even if you only go for the day like i am in may - its still beyond amazing, people who keep putting it off never end up going is what i find
Jim 2 Posted March 29, 2006 I'll go.. just wanna save a few pennies and make the trip worthwhile, and go with a few forum buddies :) Spend a few days in a good local hotel enjoying local food, and local beer :)

corradophil 3 Posted March 30, 2006 The thing that really struck me the most was the gradient of the track Yeah, that took me by suprise, I actually felt quite light headed on some parts, where you drop down a hill, and then go up again.
