ABS WARNING LIGHT ON A VR6?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how to stop an ABS warning light coming on on my VR6? or anyone who could fix it in Kent without getting charged what a VW dealer would to fix it? It seems to be coming on intermittently and is a major problem now as won't pass mot whilst like this.

Thanks

Sam :?

You need to get it plugged in to Vag.com as that will bring up a fault code. Mine is in the garage today for this. It's most likely a wheel sensor which is £50-70 to fix but it could be more serious. Most garages will have the equipment to check it out.

Moving to Drivetrain.

It's most likely a bent sensor cage on one of the wheels, or perhaps a sensor itself.

Without replacing all of them it's hard to tell, but as oxfordpaul says, hooking the car up to VAG-COM will give you an answer.

If you have a look in the VAG-COM Scanning and Help thread - people are offering their services there.

Alternatively, a local VW specialist will probably scan it for free if you ask nicely :)

If you're handy with a multimeter then there's some basic checks you can do even without resorting to VAGCOM.
