Supercharged Junkie 0 Posted June 2, 2006 Hi Does anyone know if LED sidelights will pass a MOT? Got them fitted to my C, only thing is they seem to produce a white/blueist tint...A little bit worried about the blue bit of that thou  All i can find out about sidelights is they must produce a white or yellow light ? Do you think i`ll get away with white with a bit blue tint? Ian
Phil K 0 Posted June 2, 2006 There's one way to find out for sure  My headlight bulbs failed on the test before the current one for having a slight blue tint! However they passed no problems this time - I guess it all depends on who does your test at the end of the day... Do what I did and just have a pair of the correct 'legal' bulbs in the glovebox and be perfectly honest with the tester... you can always do a quick swop over before the test if they're not keen! Good luck anyway 8)
lottysvdub 0 Posted June 2, 2006 depending on the tester and how much of a blue tint there is most decent testers would pass and advise on such a trivial item , ive been testing for 15 years and thats how i would play it , the rule is only white and orange lights at the front , if its any other colour then it fails but you say a slight tint of blue really you should ok just look at most xeon lights they have a nice blue tint admittedly there supposed to , like phil k said take a pair of clears along with you just incase you get a very stricked tester . hope this is some help :D

dub envy 0 Posted June 9, 2006 Mine passed it's MOT yesterday with only one sidelight bulb working and the side repeater bulb down in the inner wing!! It got an advisory for having a bonnet catch that wouldnt open, yet they didnt care that I have no rear view mirror. To$$er dented my sump though as he took it off the brake test rollers.
Guest Posted June 9, 2006 I tinted a spare pair I had, but have kept the orange originals just for the MOT

Supercharged Junkie 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Yeah i was a bit shocked when my passed, he said he didn`t do the emission test and said something about he didn`t put it on the rollers because my RS4 bumper was a bit low ?
