peanut 0 Posted July 11, 2006 is it orangey rusty colour? if it had a water leak previously and the owner only topped it up with water without the coolant it goes that colour from the residue inside the engine. If it was all over the header tank sounds like might be why the head was rebuilt (possible head gasket) pushing the water out the theexpoansion tank cap. Or could just be the cap failed Gav
biggerbigneil 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Gave the car another service with Biggerbighugo over the weekend Synta - 6 litres of the stuff? has it been rebuilt to a 3.0l? I though they only took 5.5l... Changed the oil filter, gaskets, coolant (G12) Started to put back the interior back together Some more polishing and touching up Need to find the time to swap the tyres over to the new wheels and then I'll take her out for a blast and report back! I'm in Telford and Edinburgh for the next three weeks with work, which is slowing down progress - very annoying!
Phil K 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Got the body work looking pretty smart, will post some more pics up next week... pics

biggerbigneil 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Chassis... underneath of car Undercarriage Simpson> My last one had 60,000 on it and the axle was rusting and there were a few jack marks and bent lips (where you jack the car up). This one is pretty mint Anywhoo, back to work
biggerbigneil 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Took her for a spin tonight, it was fcuking amazing! God I've missed the VR6 noise! Biggerbighugo (Hugo) gave the car a blast as well - motherfooker, he gave it some, still some work left, the brakes are shocking but she goes well and the noise is fantastic! Just been down the pub and I couldn't wait to get home to check the coolant level - looser hehe Wheels on and some more polishing: -

Mave 0 Posted July 15, 2006 Those speedies look mint
biggerbigneil 0 Posted July 18, 2006 The Speedies are very mint! Just been done by Pristine - even better than Wicked Wheels! Started putting the interior back in over the weekend, nearly lost my thumb putting the glovebox back in! That glovebox is unnecessarily difficult to take out and put back in. Phil K 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Looks damn nice Neil! Would love to come and have a look one eve... should have a mini C meet at a Guildford pub :D
biggerbigneil 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Cheers Phil, not living in Guildford anymore, car is in West Sussex but will try and get it along to the next no rice. I'm living in Farnborough for the time being, getting quite tempted by Windsor for a new gaff! Definitely Up for a C meet at Guildford though! Went to West Wittering near Chichester on Sunday and saw my old Corrado go flying past while Hugo was driving. Me "dam look at that Rado! wait... that says L666... Dude turn around!!!" Hugo didn't turn around, I was quite sad for a fair few hours, it did look like it's being looked after though
biggerbigneil 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Alot more spending this weekend and an MOT booked for next Saturday at Cranleigh MOT centre, which does all of Ewhursts VW dealer cars so they can fix anything that might need doing - hopefully just a wheel speed sensor for the ABS. Went to Farnham tyres yesterday to have 4 new Avon ZV3's fitted. I had these fitted to my old VR6 and loved them. They are 205 50 15 86V (150 mph) which is enough. I had the four wheel alignment done (although I think only the fronts can be altered). The front left was -2 degrees 11, which was apparently why the car was jumping over 50 mph. The Camber and Toe have been reset and the ride is now perfect. Gave her a good clear out on some Ultimate and have been seeing over 30 mpg and some good speeds. The interior is nearly sorted, if anyone can help, I need the following: - Plastic interior door handle surround for the drivers side Door pins Plastic cover for the fuse box in the drivers side footwell Metal Clips/pins for holding the passenger side seat covers to the front underside of the base (part you sit on) Plastic circular adjuster for the drivers side seat (on the left side for tilting the seat The Dealer has to order all these parts in so just checking first Any help would be much appreciated I shall be at the next No Rice
biggerbigben 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Good stuff butthead.. be good to see it at No Rice next month. Hopefully mine will make it also :)
biggerbigneil 0 Posted August 19, 2006 cough wa$kers cough meow Failed MOT on off side rear caliper not working (on handbrake only) and exhaust blowing cheap easy fixes but I have to pay another £44 again! Nearly £90 to get an MOT! I thought there was a £20 re-test barstuards
biggerbigben 0 Posted August 20, 2006 dohh! mk4 calipers at the rear then?
biggerbigneil 0 Posted August 26, 2006 Booked the old girl in to a specialist on the 5th Sept to have everything done, have no time to do anything at the mo and want it fixed asap. If I had time it would obviously be cheaper but hey ho, will be good to go for a legal drive soon.... Unfortunately it won't be ready for ED38 but hopefully the next No Rice
biggerbigneil 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Always nice when your guy at the garage phones you up and says "who's been playing with your car" Needs new handbrake cables and mechanisms - been wound too tight Needs a whole new exhaust - it is the original though so 13 years of service is pretty good, going to get another standard one. A bit more investigation required on the electrics Awaiting the next call, hopefully doesn't require any new parts
biggerbigneil 0 Posted September 7, 2006 Purchased a Magnex cat back system with oval pipe which should be fitted tomorrow! Handbrake assembly is sorted Electrics sorted Bring on the next MOT!
biggerbigneil 0 Posted September 13, 2006 Everything was sorted, on the way to MOT and the ABS light came on - fooker! Back on the machine and shows up as front left connector. I hope this is just a wheel speed sensor. That should be the last thing to sort out!

biggerbigneil 0 Posted September 26, 2006 Balls, it's not an ABS sensor, doing some more investigation. What's the worst it could be and th costs?
