Polished/Painted Inlet Manifold

Saw this on an auction site and thought it looks really good! Better than just polished!

My bodyshop doesn't polish I know that much? Is it a specialist thing?

http://www.pureklass.co.uk dav does all my polishing, he even collects from your house he can do this and chroming etc etc.

you can do pretty much all of that yourself,just get a polishing kit from somewhere like frosts

Ok,I fancy giving this a go myself.Has anyone else on here done this?

I plan on polishing the inlet manifold and painting the VR6 DOHC thingy-bit.Any advice on materials/strategy welcomed.

I did something like that on my 16v, I painted the manifold in Halford Metalic Black VHT paint, then sanded the logo, to give it a brushed ally look, Did a similar thing to the rocker cover as well

 

By the way, is this a 40 or 50mm manifold?

Thanks for the reply.I suppose it's just trial and error then.I'm aiming for the same result as the shiny puppy at the top of the page.Something tells me that's gonna take a lot of elbow grease.
