Anyone ever had a handbrake (drums) seize on when its hot?

My missus has just gone out to her 306 and the handbrake wont release. The actual handle is free, as if it has nothing attached to it, but every time she trys to reverse the back of the car just rises in that typical peugeot torsion bar kinda way! Could it be the heat?

 

She can't move the car forward as its in a car port and is only about 9 inches away from the wall!

Try giving the drums/rear wheels a tap with a hammer to free the shoes off. :scratch:

Happens lots to my sisters fabia. a quick tap on the drum with a hammer sees em free again (after releasing the handbrake!).
