HELP with VR6 Corrado rad & twin fan setup

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd come on here as you Corrado people would be best to ask.

I'm dropping a 20v Turbo engine into my Mk2 Golf GTI. I wanted to make sure it was running nice & cool so I'm going to go for a Corrado Vr6 radiator as it should drop straight in.

I bought a twin fan setup that I was told was off a 1993 Corrado VR6.

I got a 630mm wide rad from GSF that's for a Corrado VR6 with A/C but the fans don't seem to fit as per the pics below.

I'm sure this is the wrong rad so my question is which one do I need and where's best to get it from? Part numbers maybe?

Many thanks

The VR6 Rad you need has a detachable top hose elbow, not sure what that you've got there is tbh.

As your 20V engine has short runner intake, the VR6 fans might be too big. The throttle might hit the fan housing. Most people I've seen with 1.8Ts in Rados and MK2s who also use the VR rad use slimline fans from Spal or Kenlowe etc. An 11" one and a 9" one.

That’s a Golf 4 rad, not Corrado VR6, GSF nuggets! You need 535 121 251 E which is 630-mm wide and they are the same for cars with or without A/C. You would be better off running a Golf 2 G60 non A/C rad as it fits perfectly.

Will the ECP one fit my fans? If so you don't have the part number do you?

I recently got a new rad from Wessex radiators in Bursledon, Southampton, They were very good on service, have a pretty good reputation and were £40 quid cheaper than dealer, for what looks like at least OEM quality.

Does help if you're a bit local to here tho.

If you interested, Yell.com them up.
