CAG 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Hello fellow rado fans! I have a heater problem that I have had for ages and it's starting to drive me nutz, hope you guys can help, every time I turn my heaters on (cold or hot), I get this really annoying droning nose coming from the dash, please put me out of my misery! what could this be? :x
cymru-corrado 0 Posted July 15, 2006 poss bearings in fan motor? Though thats usually a squeaky noise, had it on mine and when i didnt have the trim in place a little thump in the unit would cure it. :D
Walesy 0 Posted July 15, 2006 Sounds like the fan motor to me, does the 'drone' come from behind the dash in the the passenger footwell?
randomist 0 Posted July 15, 2006 mine drones a bit on speed one but goes away on 2-3 & 4. i've had loads of problems with my heater so i've changed & swapped most things. put a new fan motor in & it stopped the droning. it's just behind the passenger footwell shelf, you have to take the shelf out to get to it. then there's a locating tab at the back that you bend out & the fan should drop out when you twist it anti-clockwise. older seat toledo motors fit & are usually cheaper (got mine for a fiver, they're in the same place as a corrados) also mk2 golfs do but you have to change something on them. (golfs only have 4 pin connectors, c's & the seat ones are five) hope this helps, the motor's in the top left corner & it's only a 10-15 minute job. Jim 2 Posted July 15, 2006 Tis an easy job to swap out.. but a new one isn't particularly cheap! Budget approx £51 for a new one even from GSF!
