Easy fix to sunroof problem

Recommended Posts

Theres an easy fix to the sunroof problem!

On the back end of the rocker is a small rubber bead thing.

This from good use of the sunroof suffers from work hardening ( the metal goes brittle and come lose)

If you have found this problem you need to take the spring on the rocker off.

Now, when you tilt the sunroof it will usually bring the rocker up.

In the up position it locks the sunroof going back. So what you do, is when in tilt mode, push the front of the rocker down so its flat.

Buy this time you should be buzzing with adrenalin that this was so bloody easy compared to removing the whole bloody sunroof.

Whos the man! 8)

Here's the bit that's broken on the Jetta roof I have at the moment. :(

Is that the part that you're talking about breaking?

Yep. Seconded.

The play you've noticed is the slider in the track that supports the locking lever. The small wheel on the rear of the locking lever also wears and can be replaced seperatly using nothing more complicated than a small straight-bladed screw driver.

If the slider is worn, it's a roof out job to fix properly. Otherwise you can only use the roof in tilt mode and/or bodge it...
