Top Gear Corrado Videos

Recommended Posts

I heard there was a feature in the mid 90's where one of the presenters drove a late VR (think it was a Storm) back to Karmann, someone was supposed to have it on VHS and was going to get in on a computer and upload it. Not sure if they ever did though?

Must be Chinese Whispers.I seem to recall someone telling me that it was Herr Clarkson doing the driving(can't be right).

My vivid imagination conjures a visual of Jeremy driving said Storm through France en route to Germany muttering to the camera that indeed the door handles are shite, the wipers are shite, the headlights are shite, your sunroof might not work unfailingly, the doors shut with a most un-German-like tininess, but that the car has a mystical hold over your senses for all this and looks the absolute dogs conkers.Even in 10 years time.

Possibly.

I'm sure he said that straight after the Hammond feature, back in the studio. Someone must have it, if they've got the Hammond bit

I have the Top Gear video, the one where Andy Wilman, (Clarksons brother-inlaw and now the shows producer) drove the very last green storm from the factory to the VW museum. His Quote was " If this isn't a future classic, I'll eat my trousers on toast!"

I will convert and upload to youtube if anyone is interested?

Yup, thats the one to Berlin and then Wolfsburg Museum to languish let the tyres go flat. Wasn't being looked after for sure. Tax disc ran out in 04 96. Bet they never SORN'd it  Had approx. 15,000 on the clock.

lol, just been watching it this afternoon while trying to find another VW training video.

Yes it is. The building at the east end near the chimneys of VW Wolfsburg factory. VW Heritage was a little door in those days in one of the museum walls, now move to a garage in Wolfsburg. That was May 1999 just before the Autostadt opened in June 1999.

I'm told some of the exhibits are not on display (stored?). Interesting place for things like the Corrado enduarnce cars 1 & 2, Mk2 Scirocco Turbo and other very limited models, some of which didn't make it to the dealerships.

Combine it with the Autostadt and a Wolfsburg factory tour, and it makes a worthwhile visit.

The tour I ran did the museum and Wolfsburg factory line. We were over there for 10 days and toured other VW factories plus Karmann & Karmann museum plus a weekend at Scirocco Comes Home at Osnabruck 21- 24 May 1999. A whole 40 acre farm full of Sciroccos & Corrado from all over Europe to celebrate 25 years of the VW Scirocco. Field after field full of all sorts of standard, customed, tuned etc.

Would you be either willing to get this captured onto computer, or loan it to someone who has the facility to do this? I've still never seen this video and would very much like to!

I'd be willing to loan it to somebody who has the facility to do it as I haven't got a clue about how to go about it

I'm sure I could source the equipment to get this sorted and would be only too glad to finally get this encoded and put up for everyone to enjoy. I would promise to look after the tape like it was my own!

I'm just about to go away for a week but will drop you a line when I return if you're OK with me borrowing it for a week or so to capture it?

Cheers.
