Overheating 16v!

Recommended Posts

My 1.8 16v corrado keeps overheating after even very short journeys. By that. I mean the coolent boils to such an extent it gushes out of the hole on the expansion tank. Which is normally covered by that black cover thingy. I don't seem to have any leaks from any of the rubber piping. Has anyone got any ideas?

thanks alex

Check the rubber seal is actually sitting in the base of the cap in the right place, they are known to not seat right.

what temps is it showing.

I replaced the waterpump, thermostat along with G12 as a precaution and even I managed it.

I would also consider checking if the radiator is blocked.

I would also check the oil for water contamination

As CB says, check the "O" ring inside the cap, especially if you have the earlier black cap. The modified replacements are blue.

check that the expansion tank hasn't cracked while you're replacing the cap... ;)
