Furkz 0 Posted September 6, 2006 205/40 or 215/35 will be the right tyre but unless you are keeping standard height 215/40 will rub unfortunately.
g60greeny 0 Posted September 6, 2006 will go for the 205's then, cheers
gradeAfailure 0 Posted September 6, 2006 Furks, Laura had 215/40 without rubbing, and hers definitely was not standard height! not as low as yours, admittedly... ;)
Furkz 0 Posted September 6, 2006 obviously not low enough to rub? what brand tyres was she running?
gradeAfailure 0 Posted September 6, 2006 Toyo T1S - they do seem to be a little narrower than other makes of the same width though i think...
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted September 6, 2006 It's Falken BTW and they are OK but not great, just a budget tyre, not remould tho.
Polo Classic 0 Posted September 7, 2006 It not safe to go slimmer than 215/40 according to Tüv. If you feel you have more expertise and knowledge, be my guest :doc:

g60greeny 0 Posted September 7, 2006 just looked on there aswell, nothin on there either really? how much diff would 205/45/ look, they had plenty of choice in that size?
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted September 7, 2006 greeny chap i just looked mate and there is 205/40/16's on there for £45 they are kumho ecsta's there not that bad!

gradeAfailure 0 Posted September 7, 2006 215/40-16 - overall diameter=578mm 205/40-16 - overall diameter=570mm So the difference in radius is half that, 4mm. If you really need the extra 4mm clearance then get the 205s, if not, get the 215s (which seem to be much more common, and cheaper too). All depends on how low you want to go I guess... gradeAfailure 0 Posted September 7, 2006 Oh, and 205/45-16 come out as 591mm overall diameter, so they're bigger than the 215/40s There's always 195/40s but I reckon that's just a silly stretch on a 9" rim, imo...
W3RKD 0 Posted September 7, 2006 215/35 will also go on a 9" quite well
