A friend of mine owns a Garage in Stonehaven called Firstdrive Cars. He has a couple of excellent mechanics who are skilled in all types of German cars and I trusted them with my VR6 for the past 3 years, (and my 3 series convertible before that), when it needed any work done including a head rebuild. His hourly rate is only 22 quid and can usually supply a loan car and will give you a level of service far beyond a stealer. He also tightened a track rod for free becuase it was potentially dangerous. He got my business just for that. I took my C in so he could have a look and he put the car up on a jack thing, stood under it and he showed me what he was talking about and explained what needed to be done (including what would happen if left). I took it in on the Saturday and managed to get it booked in for the Wednesday. Also, Elite Wheels and Tyres deserve a mention for their help too (details on http://www.elitewheels.co.uk). I might give their alloy wheel refurb a go when I have some spare cash... you can get a courtesy set too whilst they're being done.
