Idling problem

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Got the following prob: -

Leads and plugs all changed pretty recently

It's missing like no-ones business and the exhaust is absolutely honking of fuel most markedly after start up. It's idling fairly roughly/noisily. The whole car shakes.

Also the exhaust seems to be getting very hot, it "tings" like hell after any kind of running and the centre consol gets pretty warm too !!

Taken it to the local VW specialist and says it an internal engine problem???

Please advise

could your cat be blocked , i had one on a car at work , not a vr6 but a v6 gv 4x4 and one of the cats had fallen appart internaly and blocked the exhaust causing the engine to run baddly and the exhaust to get very very hot , may be worth a quick look

Does your car have a coil pack or dizzy? It sounds like it could be a coil pack problem. When mine broke down and stopped firing 1&6, it caused the cat to absolutely stink and the exhaust got really hot...

yep, took it to the specialist, did every check in the book. And yep it was the coilpack gone.
