Decent bodyshop in the Edinburgh area?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I've got a couple of small patches of rust that I want to get done properly. I'm therefore on the lookout for a decent yet fairly cheap bodyshop in the Edinburgh area. I am, however, aware that a lot of the time you get what you pay for, but has anyone got any recommendations?

A mate just got his Golf back but is very disappointed with the quality of finish, so he's going to have to take it back in. I would like to avoid the same problems.

I know the garage at Wallyford is meant to do (or at least did) a fantastic job, but, from what I've heard, they are probably out of my price range.

Cheers in advance.

I'd be interested too as i have a few rust patches i want sorting.

There is a resprayer just between Bonnyrigg and Rosewell, next to a mobile phone mast. I went in to chat about a full respray once, but didnt go ahead. Maybe worth having a chat?

Otherwise i spotted a bodyshop in the small ind est behind Ikea. Had planned to go and have a chat with them, but havnt yet.

Sorry, ive no actuall recomendations !

I think the one you mentioned just outside Bonnyrigg might be DH Autosprayers. I read somewhere that they are meant to be quite good. Maybe I'll have to take a trip along and see what they say.

Another I've heard mentioned is PFP Coachworks in Newtongrange, though again I dont know a lot about them.

A mate is looking to use Altered Image in a couple of weeks, reckon it's going to cost him £1200 for a full respray, he'll be without this car for 2 weeks though...

Any opinions anyone may have, good or bad they'd be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

My former VAG dealer pointed me at Protek on Whitehill Industrial estate, Bathgate.

Over a few years, I had to go twice for accident repair to Polos (none my fault!). The insurance company accepted them and you could not see the joins. I thought they were very good then. They are still on the go now but have not seen their work recently. Possibly not too cheap, but I would always be happy to see them for a quote based on my experience, and they are VAG specialists among others.
