Where is the ABS relay and fuse on a VR6?

Recommended Posts

My ABS is not working at all, so I thought first thing to check would be the relay and fuse.... but where are they? :? Don't think I can see them in the fusebox?

The fuses and relays are on a bracket behind the air ducting to the passenger’s side behind the glove box. Occasionally peoples feet can dislodge the fuses, especially after some, err, fun, in the passengers seat-if you know what I mean! I would suspect you have and ECU with water damage though. Is the ABS light on? Get a fault code scan first.

It's totally dead, there is absolutely no sign that the car even has ABS! No light, no vibrating pedal on startup, nothing!

Fault code scan just says it can't communicate with the ABS.

Tried another ABS ECU today and it's still totally dead, no light, nothing. Any other ideas?

The 3 relays which are hidden in the passenger footwell - which ones are for ABS and are there fuses up there too?

It was dry as a bone down there too so it can't be water damage.

The relay sockets have fuses in them as well. You can access them with the glove box in but it is much easier with it out and also it is quite easy to break the relay mounting. Can't remember which ones are for the ABS. Two I know, one for the pump and one for the system. Good luck

Looks like my ABS is dead too - will have to have a rummage for relays and fuses tomorrow.

If I find anything, I'll let you know :)

I also have the luxury of a backup ABS ECU so I can swap that out and see if it makes any difference...

Still no joy, so started a new thread with a more relevant topic here in the hope that it'll get a bit more attention...
