stevie_f_2004 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Light switch gone again. :( ...bought the kit off the bloke from here to do the temporary repair but broke again....does anyone know of an alternative light switch from another car that will fit and that is better constructed than the crappy C switch????? Loathed to buy another fro VW as through time I know this will just break as well :x
dr_mat 0 Posted January 8, 2007 They aren't *that* bad when they're new. http://www.gpcvwaudi.com sell 'em for a lot less than VW, too.

M15 VW 0 Posted January 8, 2007 are you talking about the switch unit that also does the sunroof? if so then we have some flush ones for sale
colinstubbs 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Think he means headlight switch, someone was doing kits to fix them.
Bups 0 Posted January 10, 2007 Late mk2 Golf headlight switch's are a direct fit & does the same job if that helps..
Torsten 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Late mk2 Golf headlight switch's are a direct fit & does the same job if that helps.. right, and those are much cheaper than the corrado switch
Christoph 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Presumably if you fit a new head light loom, the current through the switch is drastically reduced, thus reducing the heat bulild-up and as a result the switch lasts longer? Chris
Supercharged 2 Posted January 18, 2007 Christoph, yep! - they certainly don't get hot anymore...
stevie_f_2004 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Bought one of the mk2 switches....seems a lot more robust than the Corrado switch albeit it looks slightly different......
bigpants baby 0 Posted January 19, 2007 £53.75 from vw,good thing this etka 7,even gives you the upto date prices on things.
stevie_f_2004 0 Posted January 20, 2007 Fitted the Mk2 switch and it all works fine and doesn't look that much out of place imho............
dinkus 10 Posted January 21, 2007 I really must get ETKA or ETOS installed again. And the Mk2 ones aren't hugely different (if at all?) in appearance to the early Corrado ones. The late-style dash looks different, but I guess you can still bodge the switch to fit.

I don't think the mk2 switch has illumination of the light symbol on the switch, there's one pin less on the connector block.

I've bought a warning buzzer to fit between the light switch and the door contact to guard against leaving the light's on
